This piece resembles half of a tire. When positioned properly at a 45-degree angle, the saddle creates two important positions. The first is a correct on-plane take away with the clubhead by providing a barrier to the hands which produces a better club position at the top of the swing. The second function of the saddle is to provide a barrier for the clubhead to swing under or inside on the downswing. This over and under action is usually the exact opposite to what most slicers do. Although it seems a bit radical or over exaggerated on the downswing it is what most "over the top" golf swings need. The saddle is also an excellent tool for that rare golfer who comes too much from the inside by allowing them to go over the saddle on the backswing and then return over it on the downswing. |
